2018 LIMRA Annual Conference

Reclaiming Relevance: Now Is the Time!

10/28/2018 - 10/30/2018
New York Marriott Marquis, New York, NY

Overview

Who Attends

The LIMRA Annual Conference is one of the largest gatherings of senior executives representing diverse sectors of the financial services industry. Our members and partners come together for strategic industry insights and high-level networking — a must-attend for executives looking to help their companies reclaim their relevance.

Highlights

Financial professionals demonstrate a passion, energy, and excitement for their work, their company, and their industry. They are committed to the profession, and the people they ultimately serve.

Yet, our industry image suffers in the current marketplace. In a world where people are flooded with information from the media, financial pundits, and even friends and family via social — how can financial services convey its relevance to consumers?

How do we identify the new risks in society, and can we find solutions to mitigate those risks? Can we overcome our tendency to follow the crowd with innovation, and instead focus on future success by meeting the needs of our consumers?

LIMRA’s 2018 Annual Conference will address these questions and more, focusing on the strategies that will help us better communicate our relevance to consumers. Our program will feature forward-thinking executives from diverse industries who will discuss key strategies in areas that will influence the future of our industry and the markets we serve, including: distribution/marketing, regulations/tax reform, digital/technology, and strategic issues.

This year’s event — held in New York City — marks a very special occasion for our industry: the retirement of Robert A. Kerzner, President and CEO of LIMRA, LOMA, and LL Global, Inc. Bob Kerzner has been a leading voice in the life insurance, retirement, and financial services industry, and we will celebrate his contributions and accomplishments.

We are expecting a large crowd so be sure to register early to secure your reservations.

James Comey
Director, Federal Bureau of Investigation (2013 – 2017)
  • Tuesday, October 30, 2018

    11:45 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.: GENERAL SESSION

James Comey

Director, Federal Bureau of Investigation (2013 – 2017)

James Comey’s mettle has been tested throughout a career committed first and foremost to serving his country. During his time at the Department of Justice, Comey confronted new threats against Americans at home and abroad, prosecuting terrorists and helping to shape the debates on the collection of information and the detention of enemy combatants in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. As head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, he oversaw the federal response to mass murders in San Bernardino and Orlando, which signaled a new phase in the country’s confrontation of domestic terrorism. And in the heat of one of the most closely contested presidential elections in history, Comey made a call that he would defend before Congress as one that prioritized the interests of the country he swore to serve above all else. When domestic and international forces sought to discredit the values that Americans treasure most, Comey was determined to lead in a way that reflected — and protected — the best of who we are as a nation. In sharing how he confronted the attempts to challenge what we hold dear, Comey will help audiences navigate ethical dilemmas when the road ahead has yet to be charted.
