Join us as we present results from the 2021 edition of the biennial What's on the Minds of Global Life Insurance Executives by LIMRA and Boston Consulting Group (BCG), providing insights into the highest priorities of life insurance leaders as they tackle today’s challenges and embrace emerging opportunities. 

The discussion will look at findings on a both a global and regional level,  particularly in the area of three overarching themes— modernize technology, embrace the future of work, and pursue new areas of growth.

Alison Salka joined LIMRA in 2012 and led the member benefits and research division from April 2014 until April 2024. She was responsible for driving the strategy and direction of its global research program. As principal research consultant, she is focused on thought leadership designed to help companies better understand industry issues and trends. She is a frequent industry speaker and has testified before the Department of Labor. Before joining LIMRA, she worked at Prudential and MassMutual. She has a Master’s degree from the College of William and Mary and Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University.

Rob Sims is a core member of Boston Consulting Group’s Insurance practice, leading the firm’s life insurance and group benefits work. His focus is on disruptive strategies and large-scale change efforts.  In his recent engagements, Rob developed a financial wellness strategy for an employee benefits company, led a digital strategy to increase penetration of voluntary benefits, led multiple efforts to drive effectiveness and efficiency using analytics, and led multiple large-scale performance improvement programs—both top line and cost-focused.  Prior to rejoining BCG in 2017, Rob spent three years as an executive with Sun Life Financial as SVP of Strategy and Market Development for Client Solutions for Canada and SVP of Strategy and Corporate Development for Sun Life globally. He previously worked at BCG from 2000 to 2014.

Anupam joined BCG in 2020 with extensive international experience in life, health and general (P&C) Insurance across Asia-Pacific, UK and Europe. He has advised leading insurers on digital strategy, distribution, customer propositions, and partnerships, and helped design and launch two digital insurers in Asia.  Prior to joining BCG Anupam worked with AIA in a wide range of areas including group strategy, health businesses, digital partnerships, and distribution. He also held the roles of Head of the Insurance Practice in Asia-Pacific at Oliver Wyman and Partner at McKinsey in Financial Services in London, as well as serving in senior Group strategy and Asia leadership roles at a multinational insurer.

Tjun is an expert in business model innovation, digital finance, and corporate and commercial banking who supports clients across Asia Pacific on a range of strategic and transformational programs. Examples of his experience include developing strategies and implementation plans for a number of Chinese conglomerates to enter the financial services industry; Advising a leading Hong Kong asset owner on starting-up, acquiring, and operating insurance businesses across Asia Pacific; Working with banks and insurers on digital innovation to co-create new ventures; And establishing a FinTech Hatch in Shanghai to innovate, incubate, and commercialize new ventures. Tjun has also co-authored many BCG publications and regularly writes for leading publications, such as Global Entrepreneur and Caijing.
