Essayist and Poet

Santiago Kovadloff is an essayist, poet, author of children’s stories and translator of Portuguese literature. In 1992 he obtained, as an essayist, the First National Prize for Literature and in 2000 was awarded the First Municipal Prize of Poetry of the City of Buenos Aires. In 2010 the Argentine Academy of Journalism awarded him his Honor Pen and as an essayist he has, on two occasions, also obtained the Kónex Platinum Prize. He is a member of the Argentine Academy of Letters, a corresponding member of the Royal Spanish Academy, and a member of the National Academy of Moral and Political Sciences, and also a permanent collaborator for the Buenos Aires newspaper, La Nación.

John has more than four decades of experience in the financial services business, including 35 years as a Managing Partner and company executive for New York Life. As a Managing Partner he grew a new, young agency from almost nothing into one of the premier agencies in the world, using the foundation for what would later become the industry-renowned 25 Point System. In 2015 John was appointed Executive Director of Seguros Monterrey New York Life where he was charged with coaching top company executives, leading the Project Retention and MDRT Program, and managing the Agency Distribution Channel. Under his leadership, SMNYL saw their retention rates increase by 75 percent, their number of MDRT Agents and Aspirants from 432 to 624 (advancing SMNYL from the 33rd position to the 14th position in MDRT Membership), and their agency sales increased by 33%. In 2013 John was inducted into the GAMA International Hall of Fame, the highest honor in the Financial Services Industry, and in 2016 he established Baier Consulting International LLC. to foster “Exponential Growth Through Proven Systems. " John is the author of the book “The 25 Point System for Sales Accountability and Success in any Sales Field.” He is also the Chairman of 25 Point Systems Inc, featuring the mobile app Tier 25 of his 25 Point System.

She is a member of the Board of Directors of the Argentine Association of Banking Marketing and was a member of the analysis committee of the globalization of ISO standards in services.

Silvia worked for 18 years in the agribusiness and territorial development in the Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Agriculture, and Banco de la Nación Argentina, among other public entities, as well as with providing economic and financial advice to agribusiness producers and companies. She was a consultant to multilateral organizations such as the IDB and the World Bank for different countries in Latin America and has been a graduate and postgraduate teacher at the University of Buenos Aires, Universidad de Belgrano and Universidad Católica Argentina. She is the author of numerous research and publications on markets and consumer behaviors and speaks often in national and international conferences. Since 2007 she has worked in the financial services sector, currently in charge of planning and management control at Origen Seguros, a key company in Argentina’s retirement, life and general insurance market. Silvia enjoys enhancing diversity in corporate cultures, developing realistic plans and making them possible. She has a Degree in Economics, Masters in Agricultural Economics, and is a Professional Business Director as well as mentor of new generations, mother, certified diver and tireless traveler.

Isela Costantini worked for 17 years at General Motors, holding positions in the US and Brazil before becoming President for Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay in 2012.  In 2016 she assumed the presidency of Aerolíneas Argentinas and in 2017 she became President of the Financial Holding GST. In 2013 Fortune magazine listed her among the 50 most Powerful Professional Women in the world, and in 2014 she was elected president of ADEFA, and reelected in 2015. In 2015 she was awarded as CEO of the Year by Apertura Magazine and PwC, in 2016 was granted Merco Award (Clarín) for business reputation, in 2017, CEO of the Year by Ernst & Young, and in 2018 the Konex Award.  She received a Bachelor in Social Communications from Universidade Católica do Paraná, Brazil and an MBA from Loyola University Chicago, USA.

R. Dale Hall is Managing Director of Research for the Society of Actuaries in Schaumburg, Illinois. In his role, Dale coordinates the SOA’s strategic research partnerships, oversees SOA experience studies, coordinates research across the SOA’s wide variety of actuarial practice areas, and directs the SOA’s data-driven in-house research initiatives. He is a frequent speaker at insurance and retirement industry meetings to highlight SOA research, including presentations to the actuarial task forces of the NAIC and congressional committee testimony on pension plan mortality rates. He has appeared on behalf of the SOA in a variety of media outlets including coverage on C-SPAN and National Geographic’s BREAKTHROUGH television series, and hosts the weekly Society of Actuaries Research Insights Podcast. Prior to joining the SOA, Dale spent over 20 years in the US insurance industry, primarily as Chief Actuary for the Life/Health companies of COUNTRY Financial.

David Levenson is responsible for leading one of the world’s largest associations of life insurance and financial services companies, representing 700 member organizations across 70 countries. Most recently, Levenson was a principal at Edward Jones and served on its management committee from 2015–2018. He was responsible for all products distributed through its network of 17,000 advisors in the U.S. and Canada. Prior to 2012, Levenson was president of wealth management at The Hartford Financial Services Group, responsible for the firm’s individual annuity, individual life, mutual fund, and retirement plan businesses. He also served as president and CEO of Hartford Life, KK in Tokyo, where he was responsible for leading the largest annuity provider in Japan.

Levenson holds his Bachelor of Science from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, his Master of Business Administration from Columbia Business School and a doctorate in business administration from The School of International Corporate Strategy at Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo, Japan.

For more than 25 years, Carlos has worked for in the insurance and banking sectors in several positions as officer in various insurance companies; most recently as director of AXA Corporate University leading a new distribution channel, overseeing 300 direct agents in two different cities.

He was Risk Management Director in Grupo Financiero Promex Finamex, and prior to this, he was an insurance agent for Grupo Nacional Provincial, holding important positions in sales and attending Conventions every year.

He served as co-Chair of AMIS´ Distribution Channels Committee, participated as a spokesperson promoting an insurance culture in national media in programs such as Fernanda Familiar, was a columnist for Forbes Magazine and was on TV for more than 2 years in Excelsior TV with journalist Rodrigo Pacheco.

Academically, Carlos has a degree in Business Administration from La Salle University, a degree in Psychology from the University of the Valley of Mexico, a Master´s Degree in Clinical Psychology and a Ph.D. in Neuropsychoanalysis from the Intercontinental University.

Guillermo Plate was appointed by President Macri as Deputy Superintendent of the Argentine Superintendence of Insurance (Superintendencia de Seguros - SSN) in 2017. The SSN, reporting to the Ministry of Finance, was set up in 1938 and regulates the creation and operation of insurance and reinsurance companies. Guillermo began his career as a corporate lawyer in Argentina, working with one of the largest law firms in Buenos Aires, and gained a broad experience in international law, corporate law, tax, AML and CFT. Guillermo then joined an international trust company, where he developed tax-efficient structures for four ultra-high-net-worth clients; and worked in business development for Latin America. In August 2012, he moved from Argentina to Barbados to join the Royal Bank of Canada, as Manager of Trust Business Development. In 2015, he moved back to Argentina where he participated in the strengthening of Argentina’s National AML/CFT system and developed public policy proposals for the first 100 days in office, including legal, regulatory and institutional reforms. In 2016, Guillermo was appointed Vice President of Provincia Aseguradora de Riesgos de Trabajo S.A, the largest workers’ compensation company of Argentina, and advisor to the Board of Directors of Banco Provincia de Buenos Aires.

Hernan is a partner at PwC since 1998, focusing on the Financial and Insurance Industries. His professional experience covers various areas, including risk management, and particularly focused on Financial Organizations (Banks and Insurance); studies, valuations and advice on the actuarial aspects of the Insurance and Health business, Social Security programs and Pension Plans. He has run many projects in Latinamerica: Colombia, Chile, Brazil, Peru, Central America and Argentina. He is a Professor of Actuarial Theory of Retirement Funds, Pensions Plans and Health Plans and other subjects in the actuarial area at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA). He has participated and has presented papers at various national and international Congresses of Actuaries. He is a former Deputy-Director in the career of Actuary in the School of Economic Sciences at the UBA; former Consejero and current President of the Actuarial Commission for the Professional Council in Economic Sciences for the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. He is an Actuary and Public Accountant (UBA) and has been an Associate of SOA since 1994.

Ty Sagalow is a founding member of Lemonade. Prior to Lemonade, Mr. Sagalow held senior roles at several insurance companies, most notably at AIG where over the course of 25 years, he was Chief Underwriting Officer, General Counsel, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Innovation Officer of various divisions and subsidiaries. In addition to his board seat on Lemonade Insurance Company, Mr. Sagalow is also involved with a number of InsurTech startup companies, and is currently as Co-Founder and Chief Insurance Officer at Assurely, an Insurtech insuring the risks of crowdfunding companies. Outside of InsurTech, Mr. Sagalow is considered on the world’s experts in innovation in the insurance industry having been credited with creating various insurance products including Y2k Insurance, (Entity Cover) Directors and Officers Insurance, Cyber insurance, Reputation Insurance, Collectible Authenticity Insurance and Intellectual Property Collateral Insurance. Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be received in writing. Cancellations received before October 7, 2019, will be refunded, less a $75 processing fee. Cancellations received from October 7 to October 21, 2019, will be refunded, less a $275 processing and administrative fee. No refunds will be issued after October 21, 2019. In the event that a scheduled meeting or event is cancelled by LIMRA for any reason, LIMRA shall refund any conference registration fees that have been paid by the registrant.
